Best Photo Tips for a Better AI Portrait

Start with one clear favorite photo

Your Paintingify portrait is created from the photo you upload, so the best results usually start with a sharp, well-lit image where the subject is easy to recognize. A strong photo helps preserve the face shape, expression, eyes, hair, pet fur, and the little details that make the artwork feel personal.

Use natural light whenever possible

Photos taken near a window or outdoors in soft light usually work better than dark indoor photos. Avoid strong shadows across the face, heavy backlighting, or very warm artificial lighting that changes skin tones or fur colors.

Choose a close photo for one person or pet

For a child portrait, pet portrait, or couple portrait, choose a photo where the subject fills enough of the frame. Far-away photos can lose important facial details. For pets, make sure the eyes, nose, ears, and fur texture are visible.

Avoid filters, blur, and covered faces

Heavy filters, sunglasses, hats covering the face, motion blur, and low-resolution screenshots can make the final artwork less accurate. If you are creating a gift, use a recent photo that shows the person or pet the way the recipient remembers them.

Try another photo if the first preview is not perfect

If your first result does not feel quite right, upload a clearer image or generate another preview when available. Small changes in lighting, angle, and expression can make a big difference.
